OFFICE SHAKEUP
Change has always been said to be a constant thing. So many things in life evolve as time goes on hence the reason for changes and renovations.
Some changes are deemed right and necessary because with those changes comes greatness but some however, are deemed hazardous. A couple of changes has been made in this great citadel of learning over the past weeks with a lot of argument over their benefits.
Thinking loud about it, there may be need to question the source of these changes. I mean is this change as a result of unavailability of lecture room and the school trying to compromise? Or is it because someone said there must be a change?
Taking these questions into consideration, I can now talk about the change itself. The first obvious change is about the relocation of the ICT unit from its initial place to the college auditorium that also currently house the CBT center.
In my perspective, an ICT center should be close to the administrative building (which by the way is mostly situated at the core of any institution). Renovations in the auditorium started on the 6th of May,in order to make room for the new ICT unit. Full relocation was done on the 17th of May with a whole lot of changes made to the auditorium.
Well aside for the fact that it might take everyone some time to get used to the new location but I think it's going to be a very good change.
Similarly, it's being observed that some renovation works are being engaged to address the accomodation problem of the college. My admonition to the school management is to endeavor to put similar energy exerted to achieve the ICT work in a short spate of time into students welfare too. Though students seem to complain about every little thing but it is very important for the management to listen and take drastic steps to address their concerns because their complaints often come from a place of curiosity and discomfort.
In conclusion, we plead with the school management to accelerate plans as regards accommodation, lecture halls and transportation. If all these things are available, it makes learning more desirable and the lecturers productive.
